Rear Transition Module


ATCA rear transition module is an I/O extension for Advantech ATCA blades: two Ethernet GbE ports provide I/O LANs for rear access; two USB ports (USB 2.0) support versatile USB devices; one PCI Express interface supports one mini PCIe socket with mini PCIe VGA module (optional) for FRU data and debugging.

  • RTM-5104


    The RTM-5104 is a single slot (6HP) ATCA rear transition module for I/O extension of Advantech ATCA CPU blades. To meet serviceability requirements, RTM-5104 is designed as a fully managed and hot swappable FRU. The storage tray supports up to two 2.5" SAS HDD or four MO-297A SSD’s, and can be operated up to 3.0 Gbits/sec. Two external mini SAS connectors are provided on the rear panel for failover cabling as a separate part number. The RTM implements a miniUSB connector that provides a host powered USB slave port exposing a UART port of the front blade via USB. Two Ethernet GbE ports provide two additional I/O ports for rear LAN access. One USB port (USB 2.0) supports USB devices such as keyboard, mouse, USB Flash drive, or USB-CDROM.

    The RTM also implements one Fabric Mezzanine Module type II socket to support flexible IO extension like 10GE ports, a server type graphics module or PCIe expressed based offload.

  • RTM-5106


    The RTM-5106 is a single slot ATCA rear transition module for I/O extension of Advantech ATCA CPU blades. It contains 4 Intel ii82599ES (Niantic) controllers and sites for 8 SFP ports. The RTM-5106 will provide additional 10GE ports for external access and connectivity to the mating front blade. Two i82599ES devices connect to each of the CPU sockets on the front blade for balanced IO and maximum platform throughput. This allows up to 80Gbps of Ethernet traffic to be terminated on the CPU blade without loading the AdvancedTCAR backplane fabric. . The SFP ports are using EMI cages, which are compliant with the Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) Multi-Source Agreement (MSA) and are designed to host SR, LR and ER transceivers.

  • RTM-5107


    The RTM-5107 is a single slot (6HP) ATCA rear transition module of Advantech ATCA CPU blades.

    An Avago SAS3008 controller provides two SAS/SATA ports to two 2.5" Direct Attached Storage drives installed in the RTM-5107 storage trays and two miniSAS HD ports. One miniSAS HD port can be connected to external SAS devices (up to 4 devices). The other miniSAS HD port is used in a failover configuration, so two sets of compute blades and two RTM-5107 modules can be connected in a crossover mode to provide fail safe storage if used in conjunction with SAS disks supporting dual host ports. All internal and external SAS ports support 12Gbps lane speed.

    For rear LAN access, an Intel® Ethernet Controller X710-BM2 on the RTM-5107 provides two SFP ports on the RTM panel for 10GbE/1GbE connections.


  • RTM-5108


    The RTM-5108 is a single slot (6HP) ATCA rear transition module of Advantech ATCA CPU blades. An Avago SAS3008 controller provides two SAS/SATA ports to two 2.5" Direct Attached Storage drives installed in the RTM-5108 storage trays and two miniSAS HD ports. One miniSAS HD port can be connected to external SAS devices (up to 4 devices). The other miniSAS HD port is used in a failover configuration, so two sets of compute blades and two RTM-5108 modules can be connected in a crossover mode to provide fail safe storage if used in conjunction with SAS disks supporting dual host ports. All internal and external SAS ports support 12Gbps lane speed. For rear LAN access, an Mellanox ConnectX-4 LX on the RTM-5108 provides two SFP28 ports on the RTM panel for 25GbE connections.
